About / Mission

Founded in 2002, The National Iranian American Council (NIAC) is America's largest & oldest grassroots Iranian American civil society organization. A register 501(c)3 member-based non-profit dedicated to advancing peace, diplomacy, human rights, equitable immigration, and civil rights for all Americans. NIAC's sister organizations, NIAC Action, a registered 501(c)4 and NIAC Action PAC were founded in 2015.

Volunteer Needs

NIAC's small staff necessitates volunteer organizing centered on local chapters, congressional advocacy, and rapid-response organizing. Volunteers help recruit and manage chapter networks, lead local coalitions, plan events, speak to press, join action teams, and support campaigns by making calls, sending petitions, attending town halls, and meeting with lawmakers in their districts.

This work is mainly focused on an anti-war, pro-diplomacy, pro-immigration message, especially around “No War with Iran” and ceasefire efforts, along with broader civil-rights and community-power themes. Volunteers are frequently mobilized for their chapter's monthly meetings, nationwide NIAC national leader's meetings, cultural committee action, broader action hours, trips to Washington & state capitols, protests, vigils, social media outreach, and coalition events that turn NIAC’s policy goals into visible public pressure.
